Il Sun Moon
MA Graphic Communication Design, Central Saint Martins 2018
Having left Korea at the age of 16 and not returning again until after the completion of a BA, Il Sun Moon found home to be a very changed place. Using represetative subjects from Seoul prior to leaving the city, Il Sun used these to work with the imagery of a native, yet much changed and now unfamiliar, country and personal sentiments of disparateness.
The project was much inspired by Otto Neurath's Isotype system and his belief that information can be delivered directly and universally through image and colours. Il Sun takes that belief one step further, trusting that a logical visual communication design could convey knowledge, thoughts and even emotions independent of written language.
